A Panda Express sign in Middletown, Delaware in 2019. You just made Orange Chicken," she says.Ī Panda Express employee recently gave a behind-the-scenes look of how to make the fast-food chain's signature Orange Chicken. For the final step, she adds in a small amount of sesame oil, and gives the whole thing a final toss. She deftly tosses the wok, using her ladle to help incorporate the chicken. She returns to her work station and adds the chicken to the sauce, which, by this point, is bubbling away. The TikToker then heads to the other end of the kitchen, where she lifts a fryer full of chicken and tosses its contents into a container. She then adds two-and-a-half ladlefuls of the Orange Chicken sauce to the mixture, while impressive flames lick the pan's perimeter. She begins by showing the camera her work station, explaining she first adds garlic and chili to the hot pan. The clip, found here, begins with TikToker announcing: "How to make Orange Chicken at Panda Express." Beside her in the restaurant's kitchen area are several coworkers, all of whom are visibly wearing Panda Express uniforms. As of 2017, reported Delish, over 50 percent of orders contain Orange Chicken, and the fast-food chain sells 70 million pounds of the dish each year. And, in the latest example of the trend, a Panda Express employee used the platform to share how the brand's famous Orange Chicken is actually made, leaving her audience amazed.ĭescribed on the company's site as their "signature dish," Orange Chicken is by far Panda Express' top-selling item. TikTok viewers love to see behind-the-scenes footage from their favorite restaurants.

DJing is an art and you have a chance to paint a beautiful picture with your music, but just like any other skill it takes time, patience and practice to deepen your talents as a skilled DJ and producer. Music has always been a way of life for both of us and something we can turn to whether we are in the best mood ever or having one of those rainy days. Although the sensor that enables them to detect nutrients was discovered almost 50 years ago, the means of delivering the wake-up signal, and how that signal triggers bacterial revival remained a mystery. These biologically inert mini fortresses allow bacteria to wait out periods of famine and shield themselves from the ravages of extreme heat, dry spells, UV radiation, harsh chemicals, and antibiotics.įor more than a century, scientists have known that when the spores detect nutrients in their environment, they rapidly shed their protective layers and reignite their metabolic engines. To survive adverse environmental conditions, some bacteria go into dormancy and become spores, with biological processes put on hold and layers of protective armor around the cell. "How do bacteria sense changes in their environment and take action to break out of dormancy when their systems are almost completely shut down inside a protective casing?" "This discovery solves a puzzle that's more than a century old," said study senior author David Rudner, professor of microbiology in the Blavatnik Institute at HMS. The team's findings, published April 28 in Science, could help inform the design of ways to prevent dangerous bacterial spores from lying dormant for months, even years, before waking up again and causing outbreaks. Once open, the channels allow electrically charged ions to flow out through the cell membrane, setting in motion the shedding of protective spore layers and the switching on of metabolic processes after years - or even centuries - of dormancy. It turns out that these sensors double as channels through the membrane and remain closed during dormancy but rapidly open when they detect nutrients. In the end this is better than those being accurate, as then anything beyond what the iPhone could display would be rendered identically so 60% blue and 100% blue would look the same, instead of both having errors that make them distinct to the eye. Even lower saturations are way off the target and have high numbers. While we know the iPhone 5 can reach the full saturations for each color, how well can it render those saturations that are less than 100%? Looking at the iPhone 4 quickly, we see that with its under-saturated gamut, we have very high dE2000 numbers across the board. Measuring how the phone handles saturations is another important step. The entire sRGB gamut is now available on the iPhone 5 and the result is outstanding. Colors like the yellow in the eBay app icon are much more vivid and saturated than before, and blues have far more shades available than previously. This improvement is very easy to notice on the iPhone 5 even without running numbers. Overall the grayscale of the iPhone 4 would be rated as very poor if it was a desktop display or a television. If we target a gamma of 2.2 that spike goes away, as the sRGB gamma is linear at the bottom end. The gamma also shows a clear spike at the bottom when we target the sRGB gamma curve. The grayscale has a very noticeable blue shift that can be seen in the numbers, and a CCT that is close to 10000K and not the 6500K that is the sRGB standard. Looking at the grayscale, the iPhone 4 puts out an average dE2000 of almost 10 across the spectrum. Clearly contrast levels have been improved here, despite the move to a larger screen that sometimes can affect them. This gives us contrast ratios of 1097:1 for the iPhone :1 for the iPhone 5. Black levels for the phones are 0.355 for the iPhone 4 and 0.412 for the iPhone 5. The backlight of the iPhone 4 could have become slightly dimmer over time, but using LEDs it really should not have faded much. Both are ahead of the specified numbers, but the iPhone 5 is clearly better here.Īt maximum brightness, the iPhone 4 has a maximum white output of 390 nits, and the iPhone 5 clearly trumps that with 562 nits. This gives us contrast ratios of 1008:1 for the iPhone :1 for the iPhone 5. Both phones had a minimum black level reading of 0.006 nits, but the iPhone 4 had a white level of 5.669 nits compared to the iPhone 5 and its reading of 8.303 nits. At the minimum value I couldn’t get any reading, which indicates that it’s below the 0.001 threshhold that the C6 is capable of reading. All readings are the average of three measurements from the C6, except for very dark readings where ten measurements were taken for more accuracy.įor comparing the minimum black and white levels in the iPhone 4 and 5, I set the brightness to the minimum level where I could get a reading from a black screen. Numbers were run using CalMAN 5 software, and a SpectraCal C6 colorimeter that was profiled from an i1Pro spectrometer. I don’t have a 4S to test, but used my iPhone 4 that was bought on launch day and has been in use since then for comparison. The slight increase in screen resolution and size means we are looking at a new panel than the previous generations used as well, with the new panel being speced at 800:1 contrast ratio and 500 nits of brightness. When Apple rolled out the iPhone 5, they announced that it had a full sRGB gamut, which the new iPad almost achieves and would be a substantial improvement over the 4 and 4S displays. Victory requires a calm mind and awareness. Almost all of the time I get good results from this and I find out that I'm actually playing better. I discuss it sometimes with the opposite if they are willing to have a conversation with me, I ask them what I did wrong and why I lost and how I can improve myself. Something that I do after losing duels and arenas, I think of what went wrong in that fight. You got an Overpower proc? np, just wait a few seconds until the caster casts something and then BAM! Hit him with it and watch your fight getting MUCH easier. When you are fighting a caster or a healer, don't use overpower right off the bat just for damage purpose ONLY! Hitting a caster with Overpower while they are casting gives them UA debuff for 6 seconds which reduces the magic effect of that spell and any spell of that school by 50%. DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY, this is the thin line between a great warrior and a bad one in arena.

As I want to highlight the issue of divisions, as well as sharing, between individuals and within an individual I have adopted the physics term “fission-fusion,” which has been used by ethology to describe dynamic social networks that periodically merge and divide, and I have reapplied it specifically to cognition in order to capture the malleable and shifting nature of the cognitive units formed.Ĭontemporary Shakespeare studies have gained a new perspective and created an unprecedented synergy in dramatic criticism with the introduction of Cultural Materialism and New Historicism as critical theories. These capacities both afford and require boundaries and flow between the constituent parts of the self, both as regards those within skull or skin, and as regards those in the world. These related notions of the mind as social, both in Renaissance fictional and factual narratives and in current cognitive science, are understood to be due to human psychophysiological capacities. I focus on the linked concepts that a multiplicity of agents can operate within a single human being, and conversely that multiple individuals can form a cognitive unit. To further ground the case, it begins with two brief overviews: firstly, on narratological approaches to drama and their particular relevance to Renaissance drama, and secondly, on various current approaches to social cognition. This analysis is supplemented by a few references to Montaigne’s Essays, whose influence on Shakespeare and concern with the nature of the mind and self are long established. “That’s absolutely the point, is to eliminate the intimidation and to make sure that everyone knows that they’re welcome here. This paper examines how Renaissance notions of the mind and the subject, as constrained and constituted by social means, are narrated and staged in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. “We’ve added elevators, we’ve eliminated barriers, and we really made the space accessible to all audiences in a way that it wasn’t before,” says Taylor Kidd. The project has been 13 years in the making, and is open to everyone, free of charge. The library plans to exhibit all 82 copies in a renovated underground space, “purpose built with both appropriate climate, but also the ability to control light in a way that we really didn’t have before,” says Ruth Taylor Kidd, Folger’s chief financial officer overseeing the construction. The edition we saw - Henry Folger’s favorite - will be featured in an upcoming, permanent display at the library, set to open to the public on Nov. So really, when you get down to that sort of leaf by leaf examination of these copies, almost all of them have been manipulated, changed, improved over many, many years.” “ dealers had what they called morgues, where they had damaged copies of books, where they could supply leaves to perfect and sophisticate other copies that they could then market as complete,” Prickman says. Greg Prickman, the Folger Library’s Director of Collections, pages through Henry Folger’s favorite First Folio. Imagine a patchwork skin like Frankenstein’s creature. Turning over the pages, Prickman explained that the book had gotten changed and “sophisticated” over time - a process where damaged leaves would be grafted with others to complete the volume. “This particular copy was discovered in the 19th century on a shelf in essentially a building associated with an English country house, where somebody was cleaning it out and came upon it and tossed it down to the person that was there with them and said, ‘This one’s nothing. Prickman showed Here & Now’s Scott Tong a particularly large edition that was almost thrown out. across the street from the Supreme Court and the Library of Congress’ Jefferson building.Įach First Folio has its own history. So the Folgers kept at it, and today the research library they founded houses the largest Shakespeare collection in the world. Maybe that’s enough.’ And Henry Folger said at one point, each copy has a reason for its existence.” “There were points in the Folger’s collecting where in correspondence there’s this sense of, ‘Well, maybe we should slow down. “I think obsession is a good word,” says Greg Prickman, Folger’s director of collections. Thanks to a buying spree that founders Henry and Emily Folger made over a century ago, the library already owns 82 copies. The Folger Shakespeare Library won’t be competing to acquire the book.
